More Swiss blocs for Will Bosi including Font 8B/+ flash
- Saturday 10th December 2022
Will Bosi’s mega year continues with a flash of The Dagger (Font 8B/+) and a fourth go send of Dreamtime (Font 8B+/C).
Continuing his incredible year-long rampage, Will Bosi was back in Switzerland for a few days before heading to Italy. Having had an amazing visit earlier with Aidan Roberts during which he repeated Alphane (Font 9A), Bosi had yet another amazing day on the Swiss blocs. Having initially struggled to find the blocs once there he wasted absolutely no time getting both The Dagger (Font 8B/+) and Dreamtime (Font 8B+/C) ticked!
Reporting his ascents online Will commented, “What a crazy day! From getting lost and not being able to find the boulder to flashing The Dagger and then almost flashing Dreamtime 🤯 so happy to be be in 🇨🇭 for a couple days!”
Originally climbed by Toni Lamprecht and Fred Nicole respectively, The Dagger and Dreamtime are up there with the best at Cresciano. Bosi’s super-fast ascents belie the difficulty of the two blocs which many climbers, including some very strong and capable boulderers, have had on these problems.
Bosi has flashed Font 8B+ previously but it appears as though he was within an ace of flashing Dreamtime as he explained, "I stuck the crux move and then unfortunately my hand slipped off on the next hold. I then pulled back on a felt chill through the top." Bosi fell off the top move on his second attempt and then slipped out of a heel-hook at the beginning on his third attempt but made no mistakes on his fourth attempt.
Dreamtime was originally given Font 8C by Nicole but it dropped to Font 8B+ but then went back up to Font 8C after a hold broken. Since then a number of repeaters have suggested a slash grade – ie Font 8B+/8C. Killian Chabrier, who repeated Dreamtime in 2021 suggested hard Font 8B+. Bosi, talking about the grade of Dreamtime said, “It’s hard to say, definitely soft end 8C if it is 8C.”
