Simon Lorenzi makes fourth ascent of Return of the Sleepwalker (Font 9A)
- Monday 17th March 2025
Belgian boulder-ace Simon Lorenzi has repeated Daniel Wood’s Return of the Sleepwalker in Red Rocks, USA.
‘Last day, best day before my flight back to Belgium and the end of my visa.’ Lorenzi said writing up his ascent on his Instagram page. Return of the Sleepwalker is Lorenzi fourth Font 9A after his first ascent of Soudain seul and his repeated of both Alphane and Burden of Dreams.
Lorenzi has been projecting ROTSW since his arrival in the USA back in December. ‘Las Vegas trip is going well. It feels like a dream to be here and try the boulder I’m the most psyched on for years!’ Lorenzi wrote just before Xmas before adding ‘My progress in Return of the Sleepwalker has been a bit slower than I expected this first week for some reasons but still had so much fun trying this cool line.’
A month later in mid-January, Lorenzi switched-up his game plan and also started working on Sean Bailey’s Shaolin – also Font 9A. Since then Lorenzi has been working both hese blocs in tandum as well as doing other side projects. However, with time very much running out Lorenzi was able to send ROTSW on the very last day before he left the US to return to Europe.
Alongside Will Bosi, Lorenzi has now climbed four of the world’s Font 9A. He told 8a.nu that he hoped to return to the US again and try Shawn Raboutou’s Megatron (Font 9A) which is as yet unrepeated. Meanwhile, Lorenzi plans to do compete in the European Boulder World Cup events.
