Adam Ondra fires new F9b at Oliana

Within a week of arriving at Oliana, Adam Ondra has repeated Pachamama (F9a+) and then gone on to do the first ascent of Mamichula which he graded F9b.
PlanetMountain reports in detail on Ondra’s success. It appears that once Pachamama (F9a+) was in the bag Ondra immediately started to work a link-up between that route and an adjacent route, Papichulio (F9a+). Initially, the link-up was assessed as F9b+ but Ondra managed to find a more amenable method for connecting the two routes. PlanetMountain report that Ondra, having dispatched Pachamama (F9a+) in just four days, only needed another three days to polish off the link-up and so create Mamichula.
Its worth noting that Odra had previously repeated Papichulio (F9a+) – a Chris Sharma route from 2009 – during a previous visit to Oliano in 2009 and that Mamichula (F9b) is Ondra’s 13th F9b, eight of which are first ascents.
