Barbara Zangeri and Jacopo Larcher cranking on the Eiger
Aug 8th; 2018
Barbara Zangeri and Jacopo Larcher return to Europe and get straight down to business on the Eiger.
Barbara Zangeri and Jacopo Larcher celebrating. It isn’t known how Larcher’s helmut was damaged!
Zangeri and Larcher spent July in Canada characteristically ticking off yet more hard routes, The Path (5.14a/R) at Lake Louise included. Returning back to Europe however they headed to the Eiger where they took just two days to do Deep Blue Sea and Magic Mushroom.

The steep and sustained nine-pitch Deep Blue Sea (F7b+) is said to offer sparsely bolted but great climbing with limited loose rock. Magic Mushroom, by comparison, is 21 pitches long and weighs-in at F7c+. It was first free climbed by Stephan Siegrist in 2009 following the first ascent by Roger Schäli and Christoph Hainz in 2007.
