Bloc’s Away – 2015/2016 bouldering season starts with a bang

There are those who would say perhaps it’s never stopped but the recent fall in the temps has (arguably) signalled the start in the 2015/2016 bouldering season with ascents of Serendipity (Font 8B+) by Tom Newman and The Ace (Font 8b) by James Squire falling over the last few days.
Both blocs are right up there with the hardest in The Peak and both saw a fair bit of attention last winter. Serendipity at Roche Abbey has only had a handful of repeats since Dan Varian’s original ascent. Click through here to read about Dawid Skoczylas’s repeat of Serendipity in mid-March. Jerry Moffatt’s The Ace at Stanage has now – we think – had a dozen repeats, James’s being the twelveth after James Thornton’s eleventh ascent back in early March. Click through here for that report.
