Charlie Woodburn, taking advantage of a meagre weather window, has snatched the third ascent of Talbot Horizon (E9 6c). First climbed by Dave Birkett in 2000, it takes a steep arete and is described in the FRCC guidebook has, 'Unequivocally the most serious route in the Lakes - dynamic climbing above woeful protection. Life insurance won't help you a jot if you fail.' Gulp......
Charlie’s previous attempts on Talbot Horizon proved frustrating although the long grind up to Scafell’s East Buttress wasn’t a total waste as Jordan Buys got the second ascent of Talbot Horizon – click here for that report.
Once again the weather played a part in the ascent but Charlie was able to successfully capitalise on a meagre weather window when the clouds parted are his post on social media attests.
