The Climbing Works International Festival, in its tenth year, is coming March 12th – 13th.
The CWIF has been modified for 2016 to enable no less than 450 competitors to join the starting line-up in the three qualifier sessions on Saturday. The action will be broadcast to online audiences around the world via live stream with integrated social media, delivered by Sheffield-based broadcast partners: Audio-visual Company TDC, Outdoor Filmmakers Coldhouse Collective and digital content and promotion agency Band of Birds.
Rab, the new headline sponsor for the 2016 CWIF, joins long-time CWIF partners, Berghaus, Scarpa and Axis Holds. CWIF will also be once again raising funds for Climbers Against Cancer.
Emma Crome, Press Officer of Rab, says: “Sheffield has a rich and iconic climbing history, and to be involved with The Climbing Works - at the heart of the Sheffield climbing community - takes us back to where it all began for Rab. The CWIF has evolved into one of the most popular climbing events of the year and we are incredibly proud to be supporting a truly unique competition that allows the everyday climber to climb alongside their heroes.”
Sam Whittaker, one of The Climbing Works Managing Directors says: “Having Rab as a headline sponsor is a perfect addition to The CWIF as it will allow us to go even bigger than before and we’re excited at what we’ve got in the pipeline for 2016. The 10th anniversary of The CWIF will be an exciting weekend for those lucky enough to attend and a great show for those who watch online.”
The CWIF 2016 also features a special competition in which the Climbing Works have linked up with the renowned Café Kraft climbing gym (Nurenburg, Germany) to create a special prize for two winners who will be intensively trained by the amazing Café Kraft coaches ahead of and to compete at The Rab CWIF 2016. The prize also includes flights, accommodation, entry to The CWIF, special VIP passes and the opportunity to climb with Ben Moon and Shauna Coxsey on the Gritstone post CWIF.
