International Mountain Summit Jury award top prize to Glacier River

The annual Photo Contest at the International Mountain Summit (IMS) has this year been awarded to David Kaszlikowski from Poland. David Kaszlikowski’s photo, an image of a glacier river, surpassed entries from 2600 other photographers from c.90 countries to win the Kiku Photo Award which is worth over 3000 Euros. “Mountain.Four.Elements” was the theme of this year’s photo contest.

David Kaszlikowski is one of the most famous nature and adventure photographers worldwide. His pictures have appeared on the covers numerous magazines including the Polish edition of National Geographic, Desnivel, Climbing and Vertical. His photograph of a glacier river was taken on the famous Baltoro-glacier close to the famous Concordia Square. This square is known as the heart of the Karakorum.

Runner up. Photo Georg Kantioler

Georg Kantioler, South Tyrol's nature photographer won second place with an award prize of 2000 Euro. Kantioler, who comes from Feldthurns/ Verturno has won numerous awards, many at the international level, among them also the distinction of being named European Nature Photographer of 2010.

Third Prize at IMS Photo Simone Miotto

The photographer, Simone Miotto, from the nearby region of Veneto was awarded third place and with it 1000 Euro in prize money.

The competition coordinator, Chiara Agreiter, said “From year to year the quality of the competition has gotten better and we are pleased with the worldwide response”. The jury members this year included Daniel Schaffeld, the CEO of the fotocommunity GmbH, the European network for photographers and the Swiss mountain photographer, Robert Bösch (photographer for Mammut).

The IMS Photo Contest 2014 is supported by KIKU, BMW and the fotocommunity.
