Jakob Schubert sends Off the Wagon

Jakob Schubert has just completed a short trip to Val Bavona where he sent Off the Wagon (Font 8b+).

Posting on his Instagram account Jakob added a video of himself on the famous bloc. After the crucial initial section of the problem he then takes a few attempts to complete the problem before topping out as he explained on his post; ‘Sorry for taking so long on the top out it was basically a flash/onsight from the first move in and I didn’t want to punt ?’.

Schubert also tried the sit start of the same problem and came close but didn’t finish.

Previously in 2018 Schubert flashed/on-sighted Chris Sharma’s Catalan Witness the Fitness which was originally given Font 8c by Sharma before it was downgraded to Font 8b+. A number of other climbers have flashed/on-sighted Font 8b+ boulders including Ned Feehally who flashed Trust Issues, Daniel Woods who did Entlinge, Adam Ondra who did both Gecko Assis and Jade and Jimmy Webb who did The Globalist.
