Laura Rogora redpoints Pure Dreaming Plus
- Monday 1st June 2020
Laura Rogora has just redpointed Pure Dreaming Plus at Arco to add her name to the extremely select group of women who have climbed F9a+ or harder.
Laura Rogora, the 19 year old Italian climber, has been making a name for herself over recent years as a youth competition climber. Having won multiple European and World Youth Championships in both Lead and Boulder last year she qualified for a place at the forthcoming Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo.
Now she’s added her name to a very select group of women climbers who have redpointed routed graded F9a+ or harder. She has also on-sighted F8b+.
It was only last week that Laura repeated Pure Dreaming (F9a) at Arco. Remarkably, she was successful on her 9th attempt. 'I guess it is time to dream bigger...' Laura posted on her Instagram page having finished off Pure Dreaming. Well, that she did! Just two days later she’d redpointed the extended version - Pure Dreaming Plus which gets the bigger grade of F9a+.
By redpointing Pure Dreaming Plus, Rogora has joined a very elite group of women to have climbed F9a+ or harder; Margo Hayes, Angy Eiter (9b), Anak Verhoeven and Julia Chanourdie. According to Fanatic Climbing Rogora has now climbed 11 routes graded F9a or harder.
Pure Dreaming/Plus are in the famous Underground cave at Arco. Pure Dreaming Plus starts by climbing a 40 move section on Underground (F8c+/9a) after which it joins and finishes up Pure Dreaming. The crux of Pure Dreaming Plus comes 100 moves into the route! The first ascent of Pure Dreaming Plus was done by Adam Ondra in 2018; Laura Rogora’s was the second ascent.
