Whilst many are struggling with bad weather and SADness, Dave MacLeod gets a Good Drying (Font 8a+) in the Arisaig Cave.
Writing on his blog (here), Dave confirms that getting back into shape after recovering from his latest broken leg: “As ever I’ve found recovering from being broken and stuck on crutches a long road without many shortcuts. I’d definitely lost sight of light at the end of the tunnel for a while. But since Christmas, things have begun to look up quite a bit.”
Given the absence of winter conditions, MacLeod has switched his energies back to bouldering projects in the Arisaig Cave. Last year he did 4th Wave (Font 8b) (report here). Well now he’s back looking for a monster link-up. He explains: “…the obvious thing in my mind ever since I first visited the cave was to do the big link from the cave entrance and finish up 4th Wave. I felt pretty sure this was Font 8C territory and a great project to work on (skin friendly, nearly always dry, perfect in the middle of winter and in condition nearly 6 months of the year).”
Starting at the cave entrance MacLeod has been able to link the first half into a Font 7c finish to give Good Drying (Font 8a+). He’s now on a mission to complete the full traverse and finish up 4th Wave.
