MacLeod gets quick second ascent of Below Zero (Font 8B+)
- Monday 31st January 2022
Dave MacLeod reports that he’s just repeated Below Zero (Font 8B+) at Rooftown, Meall Gorm near Inverness in Scotland.
Will Bosi paid a visit to Rooftown earlier in January and came away with the first ascent of Below Zero – a Font 8B+ sitter to Dave MacLeod’s Zero (Font 8B).
At the time MacLeod did the first ascent of Zero he was keen on the sitter. We know he’s been back and dispatched it quickly saying: “This project was always the goal for me when trying the stand start. Fantastic to get it done and felt solid on it in the end.”
Posting on his Instagram page about his repeat of Below Zero MacLeod gives some context to his original ascent and his aspirations for the sitter: “The funny thing is, when Rob and Stu showed me the boulder in late 2019, I was just coming to the end of a brief period of climbing quite well. I spent a fair bit of time at this boulder trying it when I was not in my best shape. Still good fun - I like trying to find technical ways to climb boulders as much as I like actually finishing projects.
However, returning to it last week in rather better shape was still a nice change. I immediately could see I could get it done imminently. It was still surprising though to warm up yesterday and on my first try find myself standing on the top.”
