Mountain Heritage Trust open for business again

The Mountain Heritage Trust (MHT) is open again after a crucial cash injection from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

A press release from the MHT explains:

The MHT has recently received much needed emergency funding of £17,700 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, which will allow us to reopen our offices once again and to get back to our work preserving the nation’s mountain heritage collections.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown began MHT has been forced to close it’s doors and furlough our collections manager. These are unprecedented times and this funding from the National Lottery will give us the breathing space required to get our fundraising activities back on track and provides much needed working capital for the charity to plan its future.

Terry Tasker, Mountain Heritage Trust Chair remarked “Thanks to the National Lottery and its players we now have the means to plan for a positive future for the Trust. We’re grateful that The National Lottery Heritage Fund is supporting us at this crucial time – it’s a lifeline to us and others who are passionate about sustaining heritage for the benefit of all.”
The funding, made possible by National Lottery players, was awarded through The National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Heritage Emergency Fund. £50million has been made available to provide emergency funding for those most in need across the heritage sector.
