The Wideboyz have opened their account in Canyonlands with The Cruzifix (5.14R).

Just days after arriving in Canyonland, Pete Whittaker and Tom Randall, collectively The Wideboyz, have linked a “key training link” in The Crucifix Cave to give The Cruzifix. It’s a link-up of the first half of Crown of Thorns (5.14) into the end of The Crucifix. Missing out the most difficult section of The Crucifix, The Cruzifix is an easier but confidence boosting link-up as Tom explains; “The difficulty isn’t mind blowing, but it does cover a huge amount of the ground we’ll do in the final redpoint and therefore it was a big confidence boost for us to link this together. It also, importantly, includes the final massive runout on The Crucifix which always plays on your mind as one of the key holds on it appears a bit fragile…. not the most ideal when you’re absolutely bricking it!”
Pete kindly explains exactly what Tom is climbing on his Instagam page; “Another view of @tompaulrandall on The Cruzifix in The Crucifix Cave. This pitch was too long to do in a single rope length so a rope pull at the centre point of the cave (the cross) was used.
It's difficult to get perspective, but the cracks are in a ceiling held up by the towers (which can be seen in the right corner of the photo).
The crack from top to centre is Stigmata (5.13). From top to bottom is Crown of Thorns (5.14). From top to right is The Cruzifix (5.14R). From left to right is The Crucifix project which is undone. Plenty of climbing to get those biceps burning!
