Will Bosi first Brit to climb F9b abroad

Will Bosi, 21 years old from Edinburgh has become the second Brit ever to climb the grade of F9b and the first Brit to climb 9b abroad with the ascent of La Capella (F9b) in Siurana. 

Will spent 2 sessions on the route before the ascent and was working against the clock (today was the last day of his month trip to Spain) as well as poor skin due to the amount of time spent on the rock in his time in Spain.  

After completing the route, Will commented; "I just can’t stop smiling! This route has been a lifetime goal of mine and climbing it means so much to me."

Will's previous hardest grade outdoors was F9a. Bosi became the youngest Brit to climb the grade with Rainshadow at Malham in 2018 before repeating the grade with the iconic Hubble at Raven Tor and a first repeat of Malcolm Smith's Hunger at the Anvil, Loch Goil. Steve McClure became the first Brit to climb F9b with an ascent of his own route, Rainman at Malham Cove.

Will now returns to the UK to train for the European Continental Championships in Moscow where there is the potential to claim the last spot for the climbing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
