Women’s Trad Fest
- Thursday 22nd July 2021
The Women’s Trad Fest is coming to the Peak District between August 6th and 8th.
The Women’s Trad Festival (WTF) was originally launched in 2016. The Festival has successfully created a welcoming community, supporting women and other marginalised genders in outdoor leadership, fostering diversity, and breaking down barriers to (trad) climbing for women of all ages, identities, ethnicities, and backgrounds.
The Festival aims to help beginners transition from indoor to outdoor climbing, support women in outdoor leadership, and to help create an inclusive network of trad climbers. Women's Trad Festival are an inclusive community, welcoming and actively seeking to support diversity in all its forms. They support, connect and inspire climbers of all abilities, ages and genders, ethnicities and backgrounds.
For the sixth consecutive year, the event is supported by Rab and Lowe Alpine; both companies share the Festival’s goals in increasing participation and inclusion outdoors, as well as their sustainability and zero-waste values.
Attending this year’s Festival to support the main program with kit testing, advice, and talks, Rab and Lowe Alpine will provide a down recycling point, encouraging festival goers to close the loop on this valuable resource. Rab and Lowe Alpine are excited to host the following events:
- Interactive Workshop with Rab Product Designer, Amber Brown: Meet the Maker - Designing climbing apparel and equipment, 7pm, Friday 6th August.
- Sustainability Talk with Equip CSR Manager, Debbie Read: Myth Busting and Jargon Crunching - Why it’s important to know what’s in your kit, 7pm, Saturday 7th August.
As proud partners from the beginning, Rab and Lowe Alpine have watched WTF grow from strength to strength. With tickets for the 2019 edition selling out in under a second and the huge response to the "Climbers Like Me" series that was launched when the Festival couldn't go ahead in 2020, WTF has demonstrated the growing appetite for climbing and community amongst women.
